All air‑quality monitoring stations in Delhi have recorded ‘severe’ pollution levels, the same as during the city’s last Diwali.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee announced that every air‑quality monitoring station across the capital has now registered an AQI in the ‘severe’ band (301‑500), a level last observed during the Diwali festivities a year earlier.
Meteorological conditions typical of winter, combined with continued vehicular emissions and the use of firecrackers despite restrictions, have driven the uniform rise in pollutant concentrations.
Health officials warned that exposure to such high pollution can exacerbate respiratory ailments and urged residents to limit outdoor activities, keep windows shut and wear masks, especially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and asthmatics.
The DPCC will keep the public updated through real‑time data feeds and mobile alerts as it monitors the situation and enforces existing anti‑firecracker measures.
