The Delhi High Court rejected a bail plea by former IAS officer in a case involving the leak of confidential papers, describing the act as "more heinous than murder".

The Delhi High Court denied bail to a former IAS officer who is accused of leaking confidential government documents. The court held that the offence carries a severity comparable to murder, thereby ruling that the accused should remain in custody while the trial proceeds.

The case centres on the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive papers that were meant for internal use only. The documents were allegedly circulated to the press, raising concerns about national security and the integrity of public administration.

In its order, the judge emphasised that the nature of the leak could undermine public trust and potentially compromise ongoing investigations. The court therefore deemed it necessary to keep the accused detained to prevent further damage.

The decision comes after the officer filed a bail application, which was dismissed without a hearing. The case is now set to move forward in the trial court, where the prosecution will present evidence of the alleged leaks.
