Delhi's air quality index has risen close to 200, prompting authorities to consider imposing a GRAP-1 restriction.

Delhi's air quality index (AQI) has climbed to nearly 200, entering the 'moderately polluted' range and raising health concerns for residents.

The high AQI levels are attributed to vehicular emissions, industrial activity, and seasonal dust. Health advisories warn that prolonged exposure can aggravate respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.

In response, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee has indicated that a Grade 1 Pollution Alert (GRAP-1) may be declared. Under GRAP-1, authorities can restrict vehicle circulation, limit industrial operations, and enforce stricter emission norms.

Citizens are advised to limit outdoor activities, use masks, and keep indoor air purifiers running. The government has also urged industries to adopt cleaner technologies and for commuters to use public transport.

The decision to impose GRAP-1 will be finalized after a review of the latest air quality data and consultation with environmental experts.
