Cyclone Murasu has strengthened over the Bay of Bengal, prompting authorities to issue heavy rain alerts for several southern states.

Cyclone Murasu, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, has intensified to a severe tropical cyclone as it approaches the coast of southern India. Meteorological authorities have issued heavy rain alerts for coastal districts in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. The cyclone is expected to bring strong winds, heavy rainfall and potential flooding to low‑lying areas. Residents in affected districts have been advised to stay indoors and secure loose objects. The Indian Meteorological Department is monitoring the system closely and will update warnings as the storm moves closer to land.
