The Congress party has nominated Sunita Mahawar to contest the Jaipur mayoral election, where she will face BJP candidate Sunil Kothari despite the BJP’s clear majority in the municipal corporation.
The municipal corporation of Jaipur is set to hold its mayoral election with the Congress party fielding Sunita Mahawar as its candidate. Mahawar will challenge Sunil Kothari, who is contesting the seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.
The BJP currently enjoys a decisive numerical advantage in the corporation, holding 78 seats compared with the Congress’s 57.
Despite this gap, Congress has chosen to contest the mayoral post, signalling its intent to remain a visible force in the city’s local governance.
