Chief Minister Vijay announced a new welfare scheme that will provide three free LPG cylinders to each household and grant free bus travel to the transgender community.
Chief Minister Vijay unveiled a welfare initiative aimed at easing household energy costs and improving mobility for a marginalized community. The scheme promises to supply three LPG cylinders free of charge to every family in the state, a move intended to reduce the financial burden of cooking fuel.
Under the LPG component, eligible households will receive the cylinders through the existing distribution network of the state gas agency. Beneficiaries are expected to register online or at designated centers, after which the cylinders will be delivered to their homes on a periodic basis.
In parallel, the government will introduce free bus travel for transgender individuals. State transport authorities will issue special passes that allow holders to board any state-run bus without fare, covering intra‑state routes and major city services.
Officials said the dual measures are designed to promote social inclusion while addressing basic livelihood needs. The administration plans to monitor the rollout closely and adjust allocations based on demand and feedback.
