Himachal Pradesh offers Rs 1,500 annual toll pass for residents within 20 km of six plazas

The state government of Himachal Pradesh has launched a toll‑relief initiative aimed at reducing travel costs for local commuters. Under the scheme, residents whose permanent address lies within a 20‑kilometre radius of any of six specified toll plazas can obtain an annual pass for a flat fee of ₹1,500. The pass is expected to be valid for all vehicles registered to the applicant and will be usable at the designated plazas for the entire calendar year, providing predictable expense management for daily travelers. Officials said the move is part of broader efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens and encourage road usage, especially in regions where tolls have become a significant recurring cost. Applications are to be processed through the state's transport department, with documentation required to verify residence proximity to the listed plazas.
