The Chennai Police announced the arrest of ten suspects involved in a cyber fraud network that siphoned off Rs 24.54 crore from victims across India. The operation, carried out on Thursday, saw officers detain the suspects in four different states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The fraudsters allegedly used fake investment schemes and phishing emails to lure victims into transferring money to accounts under their control. Police recovered a portion of the funds and are investigating the full extent of the network. The arrests are part of a broader crackdown on cybercrime by the Chennai Police’s cybercrime cell.
