More than 40 cases of cellulitis have been recorded at Rajgarh district hospital, with one patient losing a leg due to the infection.

Rajgarh district hospital in Madhya Pradesh has reported a rapid rise in cellulitis cases, with over 40 patients admitted in recent days. The bacterial skin infection, which often begins from a minor cut or abrasion, has spread faster than usual in the region.

Among the admitted, one severe case required surgical amputation of a limb after the infection progressed despite treatment. Health officials note that the patient had underlying health conditions that complicated recovery.

Doctors highlighted that individuals with diabetes are particularly vulnerable to cellulitis and urged them to monitor any skin injuries closely. Prompt medical attention, proper wound care, and maintaining blood sugar levels were emphasized as key preventive measures.

The hospital is currently managing the outbreak with a dedicated team of physicians and has increased its stock of antibiotics to handle the surge. Authorities are also coordinating with local health workers to raise awareness about early signs of the infection.
