Authorities used a bulldozer to demolish the Munmun Dhaba on National Highway 44 in Sagar following the recent toxic liquor deaths, signalling a crackdown on illegal establishments.
Sagar district officials deployed a heavy‑duty bulldozer to raze the Munmun Dhaba, a roadside eatery located on National Highway 44, as part of a demolition drive triggered by the recent toxic liquor tragedy that claimed several lives.
The demolition began early on Wednesday, with local police and municipal officers supervising the operation to ensure safety and prevent any further illegal activity at the site.
Authorities said the dhaba was operating without proper licenses and had been linked to the distribution of spurious liquor that led to the fatalities. The swift action aims to deter similar unregulated establishments in the region.
In addition to the Munmun Dhaba, officials also targeted illegal encroachments in the nearby Gaurjhamar‑Shahgarh area, ordering the removal of structures that violated land‑use regulations.
The demolition underscores the state government's commitment to enforce food‑safety norms and curb illicit liquor trade after the tragic incident that shocked the community.
