The Special Task Force (STF) in Bhopal announced the arrest of two more individuals suspected of operating a large‑scale fake passport racket. The suspects were taken into custody during a coordinated operation aimed at dismantling the illegal document‑making network.
According to officials, the raid has so far yielded around 70 counterfeit passports, all of which have been seized as evidence. Investigators are also examining the possibility that the racket was financed through foreign funds and a hawala‑based money‑transfer system, indicating a broader financial nexus.
In addition to the primary suspects, a police officer who was involved in verifying the forged documents has been placed under surveillance, suggesting that elements within the verification process may have been compromised. The STF has pledged to continue its probe to uncover the full extent of the network.
