The Assam government has announced plans to introduce a state‑run over‑the‑top (OTT) streaming service aimed at promoting regional content and providing a platform for local creators.
The Assam government today unveiled its plans to launch a state‑run OTT platform that will focus on Assamese and regional content.
The platform is expected to feature a mix of films, web series, news and cultural programmes produced in Assamese and other local languages, providing a dedicated space for regional creators.
Officials said the service will be rolled out in phases, with an initial launch slated for late 2025, and will partner with local telecom operators to ensure wide accessibility.
By creating a digital hub for regional media, the initiative aims to boost local talent, preserve cultural heritage and improve digital inclusion across the state.
