The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has suspended the registration of all new private schools, saying existing regulations are insufficient to ensure quality and compliance.

The education department of Arunachal Pradesh announced that it will not accept any applications for new private schools until further notice. The decision, issued earlier this week, applies to all districts across the state.

Officials said the move is driven by identified gaps in the current regulatory framework, which they believe hinder effective monitoring of school standards, teacher qualifications, and infrastructure safety. By pausing registrations, the government aims to review and strengthen the rules governing private education.

Existing private schools will continue to operate under their existing approvals, while the department has called for inputs from stakeholders to draft more robust guidelines. The suspension will remain in effect until the revised regulations are finalized and implemented.
