Nearly five million residents of Bihar have been impacted after swollen rivers breached danger levels, triggering extensive flooding across the state.

Heavy monsoon rains have caused several rivers in Bihar to swell beyond their danger marks, leading to widespread flooding that has touched the lives of almost five million people. The surge in water levels forced the rivers to breach their banks, inundating low‑lying villages and agricultural fields throughout the state.

The floodwaters have disrupted daily life, cutting off road links, submerging homes and affecting basic services in many districts. Residents in the affected areas are facing displacement and loss of livelihood as crops and property are submerged.

State officials have begun assessing the damage and are coordinating with disaster‑relief agencies to provide emergency assistance. Continuous monitoring of river levels is underway to anticipate further breaches and to guide evacuation efforts where necessary.
