Heavy rains have submerged Bhaghar village in Imamganj, Gaya, leaving roughly two thousand residents isolated, with schools closed and essential supplies halted.
Heavy monsoon showers over the past days have caused the water level in the Imāmganj constituency of Gaya district to rise dramatically, turning the small settlement of Bhaghar into an island. Local officials estimate that close to two thousand inhabitants are now surrounded by water on all sides.
The sudden inundation has forced the closure of all schools in the area for the past ten days, disrupting education for children across the village. In addition, the regular supply of essential commodities such as ration and cooking gas has been suspended, leaving families without basic necessities.
District authorities have deployed teams to monitor the situation and are coordinating with disaster‑relief agencies to provide emergency assistance. Residents are being urged to stay indoors and await further instructions while rescue operations are being planned.
