Winter cold intensified in Madhya Pradesh, with night lows dropping to 11.9°C in Shajapur, while Bhopal and Indore recorded 13.5°C and 12.7°C respectively.
Winter conditions in Madhya Pradesh have become noticeably harsher, as the minimum temperature fell by about 1.5 degrees Celsius compared with the previous night. In the Girwar area of Shajapur, the mercury slipped to 11.9°C, marking the coldest reading in the state for the evening. Nearby urban centres also felt the chill, with Bhopal recording a low of 13.5°C and Indore 12.7°C.
Meteorological officials attribute the dip to a cold air mass moving southward from the Himalayas, combined with clear skies that promote radiational cooling after sunset. The trend is expected to continue through the early week, keeping night-time temperatures near or below 12°C across much of the region.
Residents have been advised to dress warmly and limit outdoor activities after dark, especially the elderly and those with health conditions vulnerable to low temperatures. Local authorities have not issued any special alerts, but routine weather updates will be broadcast on regional channels.
