Amritsar Unveils New PCAR Framework with 68 Beats and 34 Red Alert Points

The Amritsar municipal corporation has rolled out a comprehensive Public Crime Alert and Response (PCAR) framework aimed at tightening security across the city. The new system introduces 68 distinct beats, each monitored by dedicated police teams, and 34 red alert zones identified as high‑risk areas. Officials say the beats will allow for quicker response times and more focused patrols. The red alert points will trigger heightened surveillance and rapid deployment of resources during incidents. City police commissioner Ramesh Singh noted that the initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce crime rates and improve public confidence in law enforcement.
