Amritsar police dismantled an illegal arms network and arrested two suspects after a coordinated raid that uncovered a cache of firearms and ammunition.
Amritsar police conducted a surprise raid on a warehouse in the city’s outskirts, uncovering a stockpile of firearms and ammunition linked to an illegal arms network. The operation was carried out by the city’s Anti-Narcotics Squad in coordination with the Punjab Police’s Special Operations Wing.
During the raid, investigators seized 12 assault rifles, 3 pistols, and several thousand rounds of ammunition, all of which were traced back to a network that had been supplying weapons to criminal groups in the region.
Two suspects, aged 28 and 35, were taken into custody at the scene. Police say the men were identified through surveillance footage and forensic evidence collected at the warehouse.
A senior police officer stated that the arrest marks a significant step in curbing the illegal arms trade in Punjab and that further investigations are underway to dismantle the entire network.
