Amit Shah reviews indigenous border security tech in West Bengal, launches Rs 77 crore BSF projects

Home Minister Amit Shah visited West Bengal to examine indigenous technologies being deployed for border security. During the visit, he observed the capabilities of locally‑manufactured equipment designed to enhance surveillance and deterrence along India’s frontiers.

The minister also laid the foundation stone for a series of Border Security Force (BSF) projects in the state, with an estimated outlay of Rs 77 crore. The projects are expected to strengthen the BSF’s operational infrastructure and integrate the new technologies into routine patrols.

Officials said the initiative underscores the government’s push for self‑reliant defence solutions and aims to boost the security posture of the nation’s eastern borders. The ceremony was attended by senior state officials and representatives of the defence manufacturing sector.

The move aligns with broader efforts to modernise India’s border management framework while supporting domestic defence industries.
