The chief minister of Uttarakhand stopped his official convoy on Diwali to personally greet troops of the Indian Army stationed in the state.

New Delhi – On the evening of Diwali, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami halted his official motorcade in the state’s capital to meet a contingent of Indian Army personnel. The gesture was intended to convey gratitude for the army’s role in disaster relief and border security, especially after the recent floods that affected the region.

According to sources at the CM's office, the convoy was paused near the army cantonment where senior officers were briefed on the state’s recovery efforts. The chief minister exchanged brief words of thanks with the troops and inspected the soldiers' ceremonial guard before resuming his journey.

The meeting, held without any political fanfare, underscores the close civil‑military coordination that has become routine in Uttarakhand following a series of natural calamities. No further official statements were released at the time.

The event was witnessed by local media and a few residents, who noted the CM’s respectful demeanor and the army’s disciplined presence during the festive night.

The Indian Army has been actively involved in relief operations across Uttarakhand’s hilly districts, and the Diwali greeting reflects the continued partnership between the state government and defence forces.
