Accused in Banda liquor case Shivaanjay Rajput injured in Sagar police encounter

Sagar police arrested Shivaanjay Rajput, the main accused in the Banda liquor tragedy, after a brief encounter in which he was shot in the leg. Police recovered a country-made pistol, ammunition, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from his possession.
The encounter took place when Sagar police teams spotted Shivaanjay Rajput, who was carrying a Rs 30,000 reward on his head for his role in the Banda liquor tragedy. Upon seeing the police, he opened fire, prompting retaliatory shots that struck him in the leg.
Following the exchange of fire, the accused was overpowered and taken into custody. During the operation, police seized a country-made pistol, live cartridges, a mobile phone and the motorcycle he was using.
Shivaanjay Rajput had been identified as the principal absconding accused in the illicit liquor case that resulted in multiple deaths in Banda district. The Madhya Pradesh government had announced the cash reward for information leading to his arrest.
He remains in police custody for further interrogation, and investigations into the liquor tragedy and his alleged network are ongoing.
