The YSR Congress Party asserted that despite facing attacks, intimidation and criminal cases, it will continue to contest the upcoming local body elections, Outlook India reported.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has publicly declared that recent incidents of attacks and intimidation, as well as pending criminal cases against some of its members, will not prevent the party from participating in the forthcoming local body elections. In a statement quoted by Outlook India, a senior YSRCP spokesperson emphasized the party's commitment to democratic processes and its resolve to contest the polls across the state.
The spokesperson highlighted that the party has faced a series of hostile actions aimed at disrupting its campaign activities, but asserted that such tactics will not undermine its electoral strategy. He also noted that the legal proceedings against certain party members are being handled through due process and will not affect the party's eligibility to field candidates.
YSRCP, which currently governs Andhra Pradesh, reiterated its focus on delivering development promises at the grassroots level and urged voters to disregard any attempts to intimidate its workers. The party's stance comes ahead of the scheduled local body elections, which are expected to shape the political landscape at the municipal and panchayat levels.
Outlook India reported that the party's message is aimed at both its cadre and the broader electorate, seeking to reassure them of YSRCP's resilience and determination to uphold democratic norms despite challenges.
