Women protest illegal liquor trade in Shivpuri’s Bhawanti area, march to police station

On Thursday, a group of women from the Bhawanti locality in Shivpuri district gathered to protest the alleged sale of illicit liquor in their neighbourhood. Armed with wooden sticks and empty bottles, they marched to the local police station to voice their anger and demand stricter enforcement.

The demonstrators claimed that illegal liquor dens have been operating openly, posing health risks and undermining law‑and‑order. By presenting the bottles, the women aimed to provide tangible evidence of the illicit trade.

Police officials acknowledged the protest and said they would investigate the claims and take appropriate action against any unlawful liquor outlets.

The incident highlights growing community frustration over unregulated alcohol sales in parts of Madhya Pradesh, where illegal brewing often fuels health hazards and social unrest.

Authorities have urged residents to report similar activities and assured that enforcement measures will be stepped up to curb the problem.
