Woman Jumps into River with 5-Year-Old in Samastipur; Child Rescued by Bystanders

A woman attempted to jump into the Vaya River in Vidyapatinagar, Samastipur with her five‑year‑old child. Bystanders rescued the child while the woman plunged into the water and was later pulled out by a young man.
Samastipur, Bihar – In the early hours of the day, a woman reached the banks of the Vaya River at Vidyapatinagar carrying her five‑year‑old son. According to eyewitnesses, she tried to leap into the river with the child in her arms.
Several locals who were present on the riverbank intervened immediately. One by one they managed to pull the toddler out of the water and bring him to safety. The child was unharmed and was handed over to his family.
The woman, however, entered the river and was swept away by the current. A young man among the crowd displayed quick reflexes, entered the water and successfully rescued her, bringing her back to the shore. Both mother and child received medical attention as a precaution, and police have recorded statements from the rescuers.
Authorities thanked the public for their prompt action and reminded citizens to avoid dangerous attempts near water bodies, especially with young children.
