West Central Railway adds 8 special trains on Raksha Bandhan to ease MP crowd

To manage the surge of travellers on Raksha Bandhan, West Central Railway has introduced eight special trains covering 38 services across Madhya Pradesh.
West Central Railway announced the deployment of eight special trains on Raksha Bandhan, adding a total of 38 extra services across key routes in Madhya Pradesh. The additional trains will operate on the Bhopal‑Rewa, Jabalpur‑Hazrat Nizamuddin, Sogaria‑Mathura, Sogaria‑Jabalpur and Kota‑Hazrat Nizamuddin corridors, providing more seats for holiday travellers.
The move comes in response to the expected rise in passenger traffic as families travel to celebrate the festival. Railway officials said the special services are scheduled to run from the evening of 27 August through 30 August, aligning with the peak travel days surrounding the holiday.
Passengers can book tickets for the special trains through the regular IRCTC portal and railway counters. The extra capacity is expected to reduce crowding at major stations and improve punctuality during the festive period.
Railway authorities have also issued advisories for travellers to arrive early at stations, carry valid ID proof, and follow COVID‑19 safety guidelines where applicable.
The initiative reflects West Central Railway’s broader effort to enhance connectivity and manage seasonal demand across the central Indian region.
