The West Bengal government has instructed authorities to organise the Teacher Eligibility Test for eligible in‑service primary teachers, with a Supreme Court‑mandated qualification deadline of 31 August 2028.
The state government of West Bengal has issued a directive to education officials to prepare and conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for primary teachers who are currently in service and meet the eligibility criteria.
The move comes in response to a Supreme Court order that requires all such teachers to obtain the TET qualification no later than 31 August 2028.
The department has indicated that the examination will be held on a regular schedule, with multiple sessions planned to ensure that all eligible teachers can appear before the deadline.
