Polling started Thursday morning for the first phase of Udaipur’s panchayat elections, with 732,667 registered voters expected to cast two votes each for district council and panchayat committee seats.
Polling stations across Udaipur district opened on Thursday morning as the first phase of the panchayat elections got underway. Election officials reported a smooth start with security and staff in place at each booth.
The phase will see 7,32,667 registered voters exercising their franchise. Each elector is entitled to two separate votes – one for a member of the district council and another for a member of the local panchayat committee.
Women voters have shown remarkable enthusiasm, with many polling stations reporting long queues of female electors. Local observers note that the heightened participation reflects growing interest among women in grassroots governance.
The first phase is part of a multi‑stage schedule that will continue over the coming weeks, determining the composition of both district and panchayat bodies across the region.
