The Telugu film ‘Korean Kanakaraju’, starring Varun Tej and Sathya, earned more than ₹6 crore worldwide on its opening day.

Varun Tej’s latest venture, the horror‑comedy ‘Korean Kanakaraju’, opened across India and overseas on Friday, pulling in over ₹6 crore in box‑office receipts worldwide. The film, produced by XYZ Studios, blends supernatural thrills with comic timing, a formula that has proven popular with Telugu audiences.

The first‑day takings place the movie among the top‑earning releases of the year, with a strong opening in multiplexes and single‑screen theatres alike. According to distributors, the film’s earnings from the domestic market alone exceeded ₹5 crore, while overseas collections added roughly ₹1 crore.

Varun Tej, who plays the lead role of a reluctant hero, and co‑star Sathya, have both praised the film’s blend of humor and horror. The director, who previously worked on several successful comedies, credits the film’s unique script and engaging performances for its early success.

Industry analysts suggest that ‘Korean Kanakaraju’ could sustain its momentum over the coming weeks, especially if it continues to receive positive word‑of‑mouth from audiences who enjoy the genre mix.

The film’s producers plan to roll out a wider release in the next week, aiming to capture additional markets across South India and beyond.
