The Indian Railways will launch a Vande Bharat Express service linking Surat in Gujarat with Udaipur in Rajasthan, aiming to cut travel time for passengers from central Gujarat.
The Ministry of Railways has announced that a Vande Bharat Express will soon operate between Surat, Gujarat and Udaipur, Rajasthan. The semi‑high‑speed train will run on the existing rail corridor, offering a faster alternative to the current passenger services.
Officials said the new service is intended to benefit travelers from central Gujarat who often rely on longer, slower trains to reach Rajasthan’s tourist hub. By reducing the journey time, the Vande Bharat Express is expected to encourage more tourism and business travel between the two cities.
The train will be equipped with modern amenities such as onboard Wi‑Fi, bio‑toilets and automatic doors, consistent with other Vande Bharat services across the country. While the exact launch date has not been disclosed, the railway has indicated that the service will commence in the near future, subject to completion of safety clearances and crew training.
