Van crashes into rain‑filled pond in Dholpur, killing three children and a woman

A van carrying a family of four lost control and plunged into a pond that had overflowed after heavy rains in Dholpur, Rajasthan. The vehicle entered the water near a local road that runs alongside the water body, and quickly sank, trapping the occupants.

Rescue teams from the district administration and local police arrived within minutes, but only one adult survived. The three children and the accompanying woman were pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving adult, a male relative, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries and shock.

District officials confirmed that the pond had risen significantly due to continuous downpour in the region, creating hazardous conditions on the adjoining road. Police have launched an investigation to determine whether driver error, road conditions, or the sudden rise in water level contributed to the tragedy.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution during the ongoing monsoon season, especially on routes near water bodies that may swell without warning. Additional signage and temporary barriers are being considered to prevent similar accidents in the future.
