Uttarakhand authorities have sealed two madrassas in Haldwani after finding they lacked the required registration documents.

Uttarakhand police and education officials carried out a raid on two madrassa premises in Haldwani on Monday. The inspection revealed that both institutions did not possess the registration certificates mandated under state law for religious schools.

The authorities cited non‑compliance with the Uttarakhand Madrassa Registration Act, which requires every madrassa to be officially registered and to maintain up‑to‑date documentation. In the absence of such papers, the officials ordered the immediate sealing of the premises to prevent further classes.

Local residents were informed that the closure is temporary and that the madrassas can resume operations only after submitting the necessary registration documents and obtaining clearance from the district administration.

The move is part of a broader state‑wide effort to regularise religious educational institutions and ensure they meet safety and curriculum standards.
