Nepal's prime minister will travel to India after Foreign Secretary Misri highlighted bilateral cooperation, with Nepali leaders thanking New Delhi for swift humanitarian and technical assistance following the Bhotekoshi floods.
New Delhi’s Foreign Secretary Misri has signalled a strengthening of ties with Kathmandu by setting the diplomatic agenda for the upcoming visit of Nepal’s prime minister to India. In a joint press release, Nepali officials expressed gratitude for the rapid and substantial humanitarian and technical support that India provided after the devastating Bhotekoshi floods.
The statement underscored that India’s assistance helped mitigate the flood’s impact on affected communities and infrastructure, reinforcing the long‑standing partnership between the two neighbours. By acknowledging this aid, Nepal’s leadership aims to build on the goodwill as the prime minister prepares for high‑level talks in India.
While exact dates for the visit have not been disclosed, officials indicated that discussions will focus on further cooperation in disaster management, trade, and connectivity projects. The diplomatic overture comes at a time when both countries are keen to deepen economic and security collaboration.
Analysts note that the visit could also serve as a platform to address broader regional challenges, including climate resilience and cross‑border water resource management, building on the recent flood‑relief coordination.
