The Uttarakhand police chief has directed a real‑time monitoring of social media platforms after intelligence flagged a Pakistan‑based gangster’s attempts to recruit for terror activities.

Uttarakhand's Director General of Police has issued an order to monitor social media platforms following intelligence about a Pakistan-based gangster attempting to recruit individuals for terrorist activities.
The directive, communicated to district police units and cyber cells, mandates real-time surveillance of posts, messages and groups that may be used for radicalisation, and calls for swift removal of extremist content.
Officials said the move aims to preempt any recruitment drives that could threaten the state's security, especially in the wake of recent cross-border infiltration concerns.
The DGP emphasized coordination with central agencies and urged the public to report suspicious online activity.
No arrests have been reported yet; the police continue to track the suspect's online networks.
