Uttarakhand Declared Red Alert Amid Heavy Rain Threats Across Northern India

The Uttarakhand government has declared a red alert in response to the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state. The alert, the highest level of weather warning, is intended to mobilise emergency services and inform the public of potential hazards.

The IMD’s bulletin also warned of similar severe weather for neighboring Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, prompting coordinated preparedness measures across the region. Roads in high-risk districts have been closed, and evacuation plans are being implemented for vulnerable communities.

Local authorities have urged residents to stay indoors, secure loose objects, and monitor official updates. Emergency helplines have been activated to assist those in need of immediate assistance.
