The Uttarakhand Chief Minister has expressed serious concern about the proposed four‑to‑six lane Dehradun‑Rishikesh highway, citing various issues that need addressing.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister has formally taken note of growing concerns surrounding the planned four‑to‑six lane highway linking Dehradun and Rishikesh. The project, aimed at boosting connectivity and tourism, has faced criticism over environmental impact, land acquisition challenges and cost overruns.

During a press briefing, the CM highlighted the need for a comprehensive review of the project’s feasibility studies and environmental clearances. He assured that any development would adhere to strict safety and ecological standards.

The Chief Minister also announced a meeting with the state’s transport and public works departments to discuss mitigation measures and to ensure that the highway’s construction aligns with Uttarakhand’s long‑term development goals.

Officials say the highway is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities, but the CM’s remarks underscore the importance of balancing progress with public concerns.
