Uttarakhand and Malaysia Sign MoU to Highlight Shared Ramayana Heritage

State officials from Uttarakhand and representatives of Malaysia's cultural ministry met in Dehradun to sign a memorandum of understanding that will formalise cooperation on Ramayana‑related projects. The agreement outlines joint initiatives such as scholarly exchanges, exhibitions of artefacts, and coordinated tourism packages that trace the epic's footprints in both regions. Both sides highlighted the historical links between the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, noting that many Malaysian communities trace cultural motifs back to the Ramayana narrative. The partnership is expected to boost visitor numbers to heritage sites in Uttarakhand and promote Malaysian cultural festivals in India. Implementation will be overseen by a bilateral committee that will meet annually to review progress and plan new activities.
