State Jal Shakti Minister Ashutosh Tiwari told reporters that the ongoing floods in Nepal are not expected to affect Uttar Pradesh, though officials remain on high alert.
The Jal Shakti Ministry of Uttar Pradesh confirmed that the heavy rains and river swelling in Nepal are unlikely to spill over into the Indian state. Minister Ashutosh Tiwari said that hydrological data and ground reports show no immediate risk of cross‑border flooding. However, the department has kept disaster response teams on standby and continues to monitor river levels along the border. "We are maintaining vigilance, but there is no cause for alarm at this stage," Tiwari added during a press briefing. The statement comes as Nepal grapples with widespread flooding that has displaced thousands and strained local relief efforts.
