The newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Congress chief has announced his focus on the 2027 state elections and has called for the Chief Election Commissioner to step down, alleging vote theft.
The Congress party in Uttar Pradesh has installed a new state chief who immediately signaled his strategic priority: the 2027 assembly elections. In his first public address, the chief outlined a roadmap aimed at rebuilding the party's grassroots network and contesting the upcoming polls with renewed vigor.
During the same briefing, he leveled a serious accusation against the Chief Election Commissioner, alleging that the electoral process had been compromised by vote theft. On that basis, he demanded the CEC's resignation, calling the alleged irregularities a threat to democratic integrity.
The demand comes at a time when the opposition is seeking to regroup ahead of the next electoral cycle, which is scheduled for 2027. By linking the issue of alleged vote manipulation to the party's electoral strategy, the new chief aims to position the Congress as a watchdog of free and fair elections.
As of now, the Election Commission has not issued a formal response to the allegations, and the matter is expected to generate further debate in political circles across the state.
