The Uttar Pradesh government has earmarked Rs 604 crore to repair more than 3,100 council‑run schools across the state.
The state cabinet approved a budget of Rs 604 crore aimed at refurbishing over 3,100 schools managed by local councils. The funds will be used to address structural defects, replace outdated furniture, and upgrade basic amenities such as toilets and drinking water facilities.
Officials said the renovation drive will be phased over the next two fiscal years, with priority given to schools in districts that reported the poorest infrastructure conditions. The scheme is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of public education and boost enrollment in rural areas.
The education department will monitor progress through regular inspections and will release periodic reports to ensure transparency and efficient use of the allocated resources.
