During a visit to the United States, Union Minister N. Kumaraswamy called for Indian professionals abroad to channel their technological expertise back home and foster new enterprises.
Union Minister N. Kumaraswamy arrived in the United States this week as part of a delegation aimed at strengthening Indo‑US collaboration in technology and innovation.
Speaking at a conference in Washington, he highlighted the need for Indian scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs working abroad to bring their experience to India, noting that such knowledge transfer could accelerate the country’s digital and manufacturing ambitions.
Kumaraswamy emphasized that the government is ready to support start‑ups and scale‑ups founded by returning talent, offering policy incentives and access to funding, and urged the diaspora to view India as a fertile ground for building global enterprises.
He also pointed to recent initiatives such as the Production‑Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes and the Startup India program as frameworks that can benefit returning professionals, calling for a coordinated effort between the private sector and the state.
