A snake with two heads and four eyes was rescued in Gujarat, prompting wildlife officials to examine the rare specimen.
A snake displaying two heads and four eyes was recovered in Gujarat after local residents reported the unusual animal to authorities. Wildlife officials arrived at the site and safely secured the creature for further examination.
The condition, known to scientists as bicephaly (two heads) combined with polyophthalmia (multiple eyes), is extremely rare in reptiles. Documented cases worldwide number only in the dozens, making this specimen noteworthy for herpetologists.
State wildlife officials said the snake will be transferred to a designated reptile care facility where experts will identify its species, assess its health, and study the developmental anomaly. No injuries to the animal were reported at the time of rescue.
The incident has drawn public curiosity, but officials caution against approaching or handling such animals without proper training, emphasizing the need for professional care to ensure both human safety and the snake's welfare.
