Police in Bhopal arrested two private university students suspected of holding a 47‑year‑old man hostage for five days in Katara Hills, where he was repeatedly assaulted and threatened with death. Two other suspects remain at large.
Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh – Local police have taken into custody two students from a private university after a five‑day hostage episode in the Katara Hills area. The victims, a 47‑year‑old man, was allegedly confined, beaten and repeatedly threatened with a knife or sword during the ordeal.
Investigators say the two students, along with two other accomplices, seized the man on a private property in Katara Hills and kept him restrained for five consecutive days. Throughout the period, the accused allegedly used physical violence and brandished weapons to intimidate the victim, warning him that his life was in danger.
The police acted on a tip‑off, raided the location and arrested the two university students. The remaining two suspects managed to flee and are currently being pursued. Authorities have registered a case of kidnapping, assault and criminal intimidation, and are conducting further inquiries to determine the motive behind the crime.
Senior police officials emphasized that such violent acts will be dealt with severely and urged the public to report any similar incidents promptly.
