A collision involving a truck, a tempo and two cars on the Pune‑Bengaluru Highway near Dhayari Bridge killed two people and injured twelve, three of them critically.

Pune police reported that a multi‑vehicle collision occurred on the Pune‑Bengaluru Highway close to the Dhayari Bridge. The crash involved a heavy truck, a tempo and two private cars, resulting in extensive damage to all four vehicles.

Two occupants of the vehicles succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Twelve other passengers and drivers were taken to various hospitals in Pune, where three remain in critical condition while the rest receive treatment for injuries ranging from fractures to lacerations.

Authorities have registered a case under the Motor Vehicles Act and have begun legal action against both the driver and the owner of the truck. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collision, with police officials indicating that speed and possible driver fatigue are being examined.

The incident adds to a series of recent road accidents on the busy Pune‑Bengaluru corridor, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and improved safety measures on the highway.
