The Tamil Nadu Urban Employment Mission’s EMC will be allocated a Rs 140 crore convention centre through a public‑private partnership.

The Tamil Nadu Urban Employment Mission’s Employment Management Cell (EMC) has secured approval for a convention centre project worth Rs 140 crore. The development will be carried out under a public‑private partnership (PPP) model, with the private partner responsible for design, construction and possibly operation, while the government provides land and regulatory support. Officials said the PPP framework is intended to ensure timely delivery and minimise the fiscal impact on the state budget. The new facility is expected to enhance the region's capacity to host large conferences, exhibitions and cultural events, thereby boosting tourism and local businesses. Completion timelines have not been disclosed, but the project is slated for a multi‑year rollout.
