A truck pulled a scooter carrying two young men for about 100 metres in Delhi, resulting in both victims dying on the spot.
Delhi police reported that a heavy truck struck a scooter carrying two friends and subsequently dragged it for roughly 100 metres before coming to a halt. The impact and the prolonged dragging caused fatal injuries to both occupants, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said the scooter was moving along a busy road when the truck, unable to stop in time, made contact and pulled the two‑wheeler along the carriageway. Emergency services arrived quickly, but the severity of the injuries left no chance of survival.
Investigators have opened a case of reckless driving and are examining factors such as vehicle speed, road conditions and possible driver fatigue. The truck driver has been detained for questioning, and a forensic report is being prepared.
The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety in the capital, where traffic congestion and mixed vehicle types often create hazardous situations. Authorities have urged motorists to observe speed limits and maintain safe distances, especially in high‑traffic zones.
