A Tripura report stresses that leveraging state administrative machinery is crucial for the growth of Farmer Producer Organizations.
Tripura’s state administration has called for a systematic deployment of its machinery to strengthen Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) across the state. The observation was published in Tripuratimes, emphasizing that coordinated government support can accelerate the performance of these collectives.
FPOs, which pool resources of small and marginal farmers, rely on access to credit, market linkages, and technical assistance. Officials argue that existing state departments—agriculture, horticulture, and rural development—must work in tandem to provide these services efficiently.
The report urges the use of extension services, procurement channels, and subsidy schemes already in place, suggesting that better integration will reduce duplication and improve outcomes for member farmers.
If implemented, the approach could enhance productivity, increase farmer incomes, and align Tripura’s agricultural agenda with broader national goals for agribusiness development.
