The government of Tripura plans to establish new motor stands, a bus port and Department of Transport Offices across the state by December 2026.
The state of Tripura has announced a comprehensive transport infrastructure plan that will see the construction of new motor stands, a dedicated bus port and several Department of Transport (DTO) offices across the region by December 2026. The initiative is part of the government’s effort to improve connectivity and streamline vehicle registration and licensing services.
Motor stands, which serve as hubs for vehicle registration, inspection and related services, will be set up in key districts to reduce congestion at existing facilities. The new facilities are expected to offer faster processing times and better customer service for residents.
In addition to the motor stands, a new bus port will be built to centralise bus operations and provide passengers with improved amenities. The port will also act as a logistical node for intercity and interstate bus services.
The DTO offices, responsible for vehicle registration, driver licensing and enforcement of transport regulations, will be expanded to cover all districts. This expansion aims to bring regulatory services closer to the people and enhance compliance with transport laws.
