Tripura initiates modern border‑fencing pilot, CM seeks BSF‑state coordination panel

Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that a pilot modern fencing project along Tripura’s border is now under way and has proposed setting up a joint BSF‑state coordination panel to oversee its implementation.
Chief Minister Manik Saha told reporters that a pilot project to install modern fencing along Tripura’s international border has been launched. The initiative aims to strengthen security, curb illegal crossings and facilitate better monitoring of the frontier.
The pilot will cover a selected stretch of the border, employing high‑tech materials and surveillance equipment. To ensure smooth execution, the CM has proposed the creation of a coordination panel comprising officials from the Border Security Force and the Tripura state administration.
The panel is expected to meet regularly to review progress, address operational challenges and align resources. The pilot is slated to be completed within the next twelve months, after which the model may be expanded to other vulnerable sections of the state’s border.
