Indian company TREDA announced plans to retrofit 5,000 water pumps with solar panels, aiming to reduce electricity expenses for its operations.

Indian firm TREDA has revealed a strategy to retrofit 5,000 of its water pumps with solar panels, a move that could significantly cut its power bills.
The company said the conversion will be carried out over the next 12 months, with each pump expected to generate enough electricity to cover a large portion of its operational load.
Experts note that solar adoption in India’s industrial sector can reduce energy costs by up to 30%, while also lowering carbon emissions.
TREDA’s spokesperson highlighted that the initiative aligns with the government’s push for renewable energy and will create local jobs in the installation and maintenance of solar systems.
