In Barnala, Punjab, three Blinkit delivery staff were beaten after requesting a payment of Rs 3,883 from a customer, leaving them injured and prompting a protest.

Barnala police received reports that three delivery personnel employed by the online grocery platform Blinkit were physically assaulted after they asked a customer to pay Rs 3,883 for a recent order. The confrontation turned violent, and the workers sustained injuries during the altercation.

The three employees, who were delivering the order at the time, said they were beaten by the customer and his associates when they presented the payment demand. All three required medical attention for their injuries.

Following the incident, the affected workers staged a demonstration outside the local Blinkit office, demanding safety measures for delivery staff and a swift police investigation. Local authorities have registered a case and are reportedly looking into the matter.

The incident highlights growing concerns over the safety of gig‑economy workers in smaller towns, where disputes over cash payments can quickly escalate into physical confrontations.
